Ten nights, no roads

Lavished by Namibia is a private fly-in safari for two: ten nights by charter aircraft between Windhoek, the NamibRand dunes near Sossusvlei, Etosha and the Kwando River, staying in houses from the Gondwana Secret Collection that are kept for one couple at a time — no other guests, no shared table, no fixed hour.

Sossusvlei to the Kwando is most of the length of the country. Driven, it is a journey measured in hours behind glass. Flown, those hours are handed back to you — and every evening ends somewhere no one else is staying.

Four skies, one aircraft

A private aircraft carries you from one airstrip to the next, and each house meets you there. Flight times are settled once your aircraft is chosen.

Arriving gently

You are met at Hosea Kutako and driven to Jan Jonker Street, where one of The Weinberg’s two Urban Pods is held for you — three private storeys with a kitchen, a lounge, a barbecue terrace and a plunge pool of your own. The pod is stocked before you arrive, a chef cooks whatever you feel like eating after the long flight, and a host stays within reach without ever appearing unasked.

A pod in the sand sea

You fly south-west from Eros into the NamibRand — an International Dark Sky Reserve on the quiet side of Sossusvlei — and cross fifty-four kilometres of reserve to the pod with your own host at the wheel. Luna Namib keeps a team for each pod: a chef, a guide, a housekeeper and a host. The menus, the linen and the lighting follow the lunar cycle, a waterhole lies in front of the deck, and two nights bring the Sossusvlei excursion and the spa with them.

A bed that rolls out under the stars

North to the great white pan. The Ekipa is a single double-storey pod ten kilometres south of Andersson Gate, with a plunge pool, an outdoor shower and a bed upstairs that rolls onto the balcony for the night. Etosha is yours on half- and full-day drives in a 4x4 game viewer with a guide kept for you alone, park fees already settled, and the walks through the mopane woods are guided too.

Reached only by boat

North-east into the Zambezi Region, landing well before sunset because the last stretch is water and the river is not run after dark. Masheli — the water lily — is one villa on the Kwando, two storeys above a deck on the bank, with nothing else on the river within sight. A private drive through Bwabwata, a cruise at either end of the day, and fishing whenever the mood takes you. Dinner is early by design, so your chef travels home in the light.

The country beneath the wing

Every leg is chartered for the two of you. The dune sea, the pan and the rivers of the north-east pass beneath the wing instead of taking days of gravel from you, and the aircraft waits on your morning rather than the other way round.

Built for one couple

Each house on this journey holds one suite, so there is no other couple on the terrace and no second table at dinner. Three of them do not accommodate children under 14, which is why the journey is written for two adults.

Before you ask us

Why is Lavished by Namibia priced on request?

The flying is chartered for you alone, and its price depends on the aircraft, your dates and the season. We quote the whole journey personally once we know when you want to travel, rather than publish a figure that would not be your price.

Who is this journey for?

Two travellers. The Desert Whisper, The Ekipa Etosha Pod and Namushasha River Villa are each a single suite for one couple, and do not take children under 14.

Is there a luggage limit on the charter flights?

Yes. Light aircraft have real weight and space limits, usually soft-sided bags only. We confirm the exact allowance for your aircraft when we plan the journey.

What is included in the price?

All ten nights, every meal and drink at the four houses, the activities each house includes, a private chef, all four charter legs and every airstrip and airport transfer. International flights, travel insurance, extra activities such as ballooning or a helicopter, and gratuities are not.

How long are the flights between the houses?

Roughly an hour from Windhoek to the NamibRand, about two hours on to Etosha, and about three hours across to the Kwando River, with a similar return. Final times depend on the aircraft and the routing your charter flies.

What happens if Luna Namib is not available?

The two Sossusvlei nights move to The Desert Whisper, a single suite for two on a mountain in the NamibRand, with dune drives, walking trails and a guided Sossusvlei excursion. At The Desert Whisper that excursion is shared with other guests rather than private.

When is the best time to fly this route?

May to October, Namibia's dry season, is the strongest window: Etosha's wildlife gathers at the waterholes and the Kwando is at its most accessible. April and November also work well. For the month-by-month detail, see our best time to visit Namibia guide.

Can the journey be changed?

Yes. Nights can be added at any house, and the journey can be joined to a privately guided road trip at either end.
